The Bible is the only sufficient counsel to man. Dr. Laura Schlessinger, or any other counselor, no matter how helpful they may be, does not have the real answers to humanity’s problems. James 1:5 says: “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally…” God has provided a multitude of counselors for us in the Word of God, in Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit. No one else but God can speak to us from an eternal and transcendent perspective with absolute and final authority. This is why Jesus is called the “Wonderful Counselor” (Isaiah 9:6). It has been said that extensive research in the field of psychology reveals that about 5% of those who seek professional counsel actually have what could be labeled an organic disease; the rest simply have problems with living. Therefore, most people seeking help need the kind of counsel in the which the Bible excels: how to live; how to relate to others; how to find meaning in life; how to know God; how to overcome sin habits; how to cope with guilt; and how to improve one’s domestic relationship. Tom Watson said: “It is absurd for us to say that God is wiser than men (I Corinthians 1:25), except for someone who is depressed or has a serious marital problem. The Bible is the panacea to all of life’s problems. Friend, go to God’s Word and find wisdom! For example:
